Annual amount of cubic yardage put into landfills

In calender year 2008, Novodai contributed 90 cubic yards of waste into West Michigan landfills. Typical industrial dumpsters are 30-yard units. We had our dumpster disposed of three times in 2008.

Our low contribution is due to several reasons. 

• First, we only dispose of true waste. All wood is burned to provide heat and steam for other local businesses.
• We gather all of our scrap steel and metal; and at the end of each year, it is sold for its scrap value.
• We have simple and well organized procedures to reduce our waste substantially; however, the biggest factor is that we get the absolute best yields possibly by manufacturing in a way that makes us very efficient. This ties into our approach to use of raw materials (explained more thoroughly under that section).
